Educational Activity “Young Paleontologists”

Let’s all become Paleontologists and take part in the excavations works of the Museum. We will get to know the methods and purposes of paleontological excavation, we will discover the fossilized plants that lived in the past in the Petrified Forest and we will observe their similarities and differences with the modern plants of Lesvos. We will use the special excavation tools and proceed to excavate fossils in the educational excavation space of the Museum.

Afternoon scientific tour at the Sigri Petrified Forest Park

Impressive root systems and standing petrified trunks in excellent condition, invite you to reveal the history of the Lesvos Petrified Forest. The Sigri Park preserves evidence of the rarity of the fossilized trees that have been discovered and preserved in their original positions.

Educational Activity “The Aligator of Liota”

During the Educational Program, children will have the opportunity to see up close the model of the Alligator of Liota with movement and sound effects and get to know details about the alligators that lived on the island, the environment in which they lived, as well as the palaeontological excavations and the systematic research to identify animals that lived in the Petrified Forest area.
