Children and adults had the opportunity to become familiar with Forest Art-Nature Art, get inspired by the natural wealth of Lesvos and create their own art works during the three day event organized by the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest at forests of Lesvos Island Unesco Global Geopark.
The three day event included a lecture by Ute Ritschel, Curator International Forest Art Association and five hands on workshops that were implemented in the framework of the Museum’s collaboration with the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald and International Forest Art Association - Verein für Internationale Waldkunst e.V., and was supported by «Rural regeneration through systemic heritage-led strategies — Ruritage» HORIZON 2020 Program. The aim was to promote the characteristic features of the forest ecosystems of Lesvos through Nature Art-Forest Art and to inspire young and older ones to try capturing the uniqueness of the island’s natural wealth and create their own art work from natural materials.
The hands on workshops for school students of Lesvos, but also for adults included a number of original educational-artistic activities, which combined the rich natural heritage of Lesvos with the experiences of Forest Art, Nature Art / Global Nomadic Art and the pedagogical ideas around Education for Sustainable Development.
