The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest is a place of education, knowledge and inspiration. Following the current theory and practices of Museum Education, it designs and implements educational programs for students of all levels of education, children of all ages and families.
The Museum operates the Lesvos Geopark and collaborates with many cultural, educational, research organizations and Museums. It is a founding member of the European and Global Geoparks Network, pioneered in the establishment of the network of the Museums of Lesvos, collaborates with schools and Environmental Education Centers, as well as with a significant number of research centers and universities in the framework of research activities.
The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest (Greek: Μουσείο Φυσικής Ιστορίας Απολιθωμένου Δάσους Λέσβου) is a geological museum located in the village of Sigri on the island of Lesbos in Greece. Established in 1994, it is a center for the study, management, and preservation of the petrified forest of Lesbos and for public education about the site. It is a founding member of the European Geoparks Network and is a member of UNESCO's Global Geoparks Network.
The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest organizes a three-day event dedicated to "Forest Art - Nature Art" which highlights the characteristic features of the forest ecosystems of Lesvos - UNESCO Global Geopark.

Lecture of Ute Ritschel, Curator International Forest Art Association entitled “International Forest Art Project and Global Nomadic Art Germany”- “Forest Art brings together the creative power of the forest and the artist”.
The talk will focus on the various aspects of Forest Art, art and nature and introduce several international artists of Forest Art and their work. The aspect of climate change and its impact on Forest Art will also be introduced.
Thursday 14 & Friday 15 October, Intensive Workshop
Two-day Intensive Workshop “Forest Art -Nature Art” Ute Ritschel, Curator International Forest Art Association, και Kim Rathnau, Forest Art Pedagoge, International Forest Art Path have been inspired from Lesvos and designed for us an intensive two-day workshop in the forests of the island, which will include a number of experiential activities using natural materials. In their educational workshops they combine the experiences of Forest Art, Nature Art/Global Nomadic Art and pedagogical ideas around the BNE/ESD (Education for Sustainable Development).
The workshop is structured in four sessions ( two morning sessions 9.00-13.00, two afternoon ones 14.00-18.00) and will take place in Mytilene on Thursday 14 October and in Sigri and the Museum’s premises on Friday 15 October.
