The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest invites you to another weekend of educational activities for children and their families.

Saturday 19th June-11 am

Educational Program “Young Paleontologists”

Let’s all become Paleontologists and take part in the excavations works of the Museum. We will get to know the methods and purposes of paleontological excavation, we will discover the fossilized plants that lived in the past in the Petrified Forest and we will observe their similarities and differences with the modern plants of Lesvos. We will use the special excavation tools and proceed to excavate fossils in the educational excavation space of the Museum.

Sunday 20h June-11 am

Educational Program “Let’s discover the Lesvos butterflies”

Do you know how many species of butterflies there are on the island? Let’s discover the impressive butterflies of Lesvos and explore the courtyard of the Museum to observe them. We will practice the process of observing and recognizing them with the help of binoculars, notebooks and identification guides. In the end, we will take part in a crafts workshop on the theme of butterflies of course!
