The Kalloni Environmental Information Center continues counting and documenting the birds of the island!!
In particular, on last Sunday the Midwinter Waterfowl Counts in Lesvos were completed by the Center’s scientific staff. Midwinter Waterfowl Survey is the longest (34 years) and the widest (143 countries) Program of biodiversity documentation in the world.
The most numerous bird species this year was the Flamingo with 1550 birds and then the Great Crested Grebe (in the bay sea) with 750 birds!!
The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest invites you on Wednesday January 27th 2021 at 18:00 to the presentation of all its activities during 2020 and the planning of its initiatives, programs and projects for the new year.

Discover the Geosites of Lesvos through the effort of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest of recording, mapping, interpreting, promoting and presenting the sites that are characterized as geosites - geological monuments. Its aim is to inform and raise awareness to locals and visitors about the recognition of Lesvos as an UNESCO Global Geopark.
With great success and high attendance was conducted on Friday 15th January the second training webinar for the teachers and educators of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network in Greece.
