The daily routes to the Nissiopi Marine Park with the special glass-bottomed boat are being continued! An unforgettable experience awaits the visitors of the Petrified Forest!

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest organizes daily tours at the islet of Nissiopi, where it has created the first marine fossil park in Europe.

Sports Activities

With the participation of a great number of athletes was organised in Lesvos Island UNESCO Global Geopark the mountain trail run “CALDERA RUN ANEMOTIA”.

The mountain trail run was organised on Saturday, August 22, 2020 by the Municipality of Western Lesvos and the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest in the frames of the European research project RURITAGE . The race was supported by Lesvos Runners, the Greek Rescue Team and many volunteers.

The technical support of the athletic event was provided by «LESVOS RIDE».

Educational

“Young Paleontologist” is one of the most popular educational programme of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest. Children from the local communities have the unique opportunity to become young paleontologists for a day and take part in the excavation of plant fossils using the special excavation tools, as well as in the research work of identifying the fossils they excavated and comparing them with present-day plants of Lesvos.

During the summer months the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest organized a lot of events offering to its visitors a variety of activities in the open-air Parks of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, in the exhibition spaces and in its open-air amphitheater. Among its most popular events, are the afternoon tours at the Petrified Forest Parks.
