The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrfied Forest was awarded at the Landscape Awards 2021, the first Greek awards that highlight the contribution of landscape architecture in strengthening the links between nature, space and humans, for its interventions for the protection and promotion of the Lesvos Petrified Forest Park.

The mountain running race Αgiasos trail run took place with so many participants at the area of Agiasos, on Sunday 4th July 2021. The race was co-organized by the Gymnastics Association of Agiasos "OLYMPUS", the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest and the North Aegean Region. It was supported by the Lesvos Runners Association, the Hellenic Rescue Team of Lesvos Branch, the Agiasos Anagnostirio and many volunteers.

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest in collaboration with the Museum-Visitor’s Center of Messel Pit Fossil Site, an Unesco World Heritage Site and the most important fossil bearing sites in Germany, and the Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald will present the exhibition “ Understanding Climate Change: Explorig the consequences in the geological record. Cenozoic ecosystems and the current threat” from 10th July to 30th October 2021.

Τhe participants from 52 countries, of the Digital Course on Unesco Global Geoparks 2021 were impressed by the excavation, promotion, conservation and protection works of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, along the construction site of the new Kalloni-Sigri road. The participants had the unique chance to mentally travel at the site though the impressive Virtual Tour led by professor N. Zouros, director of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest.
