Every summer the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest co-organizes with the local authorities and local cultural organizations a variety of cultural events from sculpture, art, pottery and craft exhibitions to book presentations, theatrical and musical performances and film screenings. This year the museum took part in the festival “Cultural Summer 2020” of the Association of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Island of Lesvos by hosting at its outdoor amphitheater two theatrical plays.

Have you ever wondered which is the largest object of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest? Which is the conservation process of the exhibits or what is hidden in the Museum's warehouses?

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest successfully continues its educational programmes every weekend. This week children from the local communities have the unique opportunity to explore the island’s natural heritage and be inspired by it.

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest invites all its young friends to take part in the educational programmes that will be implemented on its premises during the weekend 12th & 13th September 2020.

The daily routes to the Nissiopi Marine Park with the special glass-bottomed boat are being continued! An unforgettable experience awaits the visitors of the Petrified Forest!

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest organizes daily tours at the islet of Nissiopi, where it has created the first marine fossil park in Europe.

With the participation of a great number of athletes was organised in Lesvos Island UNESCO Global Geopark the mountain trail run “CALDERA RUN ANEMOTIA”.

The mountain trail run was organised on Saturday, August 22, 2020 by the Municipality of Western Lesvos and the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest in the frames of the European research project RURITAGE . The race was supported by Lesvos Runners, the Greek Rescue Team and many volunteers.

The technical support of the athletic event was provided by «LESVOS RIDE».
