The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest organizes a three-day event dedicated to "Forest Art - Nature Art" which highlights the characteristic features of the forest ecosystems of Lesvos - UNESCO Global Geopark.

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest invites you at a scientific excursion at the Bali-Alonia Petrified Fores on Saturday 9th October 2021 at 11.30. The excursion initially includes scientific presentation at the resting site next to the entrance of the Park and then a tour and acquaintance with the impressive fossil bearing sites.

At the same time, the Museum utilizing the internet and social networks, begins a social media campaign with the weekly presentation of the fossil bearing sites of the Bali-Alonia Petrified Forest Park.

New Duration of the exhibition:10th July 2021 to 30th April 2022.

The great interest and the high attendance of the exhibition “Understanding Climate Change: Explorig the consequences in the geological record. Cenozoic ecosystems and the current threat” that is open in Frankfurt since 10 July 2021, lead to its extension till April 2022! The exhibition opening took place on Saturday 10th July, in the presence of the German Minister Mrs. Angela Dorn and Mrs. Ioanna Kriebardi, Consul of Greece in Frankfurt.

Sports Activities

The most popular sports festival in Lesvos - Lesvos island Unesco Global Geopark - Λέσβος Παγκόσμιο Γεωπάρκο Unesco took place on Saturaday 25 and Sunday 26 September 2021 with great success and lots of participants.

The Global Geoparks Network and the 169 UNESCO Global Geoparks share the UNWTO decision to designate World Tourism Day 2021 as a day to focus on Tourism for Inclusive Growth. The 169 UNESCO Global Geoparks in 44 Countries, hosting geological landscapes, geosites and landforms of international significance, are protecting and promoting geological heritage attractions as key elements for sustainable tourism development!

For a succesive second year, the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest opens its doors and hosts the Petrified Forest MTB Adventure for 1 hour and 30 minutes!

Who can endure? XCO for the strong, the brave, the visionaries, the hobbyists, the explorers who love MTB and want to reach the end!
